Held last week in Beijing, the second UIC CEO Meeting marked an important moment of global alignment around the key themes of resilience, digital applications, green finance, and freight corridors. It also opened up new avenues for collective action.
Following a review of the progress made since the Marrakech edition in 2023, four strategic priorities emerged from the discussions, signalling new objectives for UIC: strengthening training, enhancing the value of services, developing a more assertive advocacy strategy, and shaping a global vision for freight.
This kind of dialogue offers a valuable opportunity to advance critical topics, thanks to the UIC members’ open conversation and involvement. UIC would like to acknowledge and thank the attendees for their commitment, as well as those who will contribute to the next steps being taken.
These themes, grounded in the CEOs’ contributions, will help define the next phase of UIC’s work. As UIC Director General François Davenne noted in his closing remarks, the high-level meeting served as a launchpad for stronger partnerships.
Planning is already underway on how to sustain this momentum, with a progress update to be shared at the UIC General Assembly in July 2026.
